ParticipantHi folks
This hood is electronic control from a small pcb from which you can increase/decrease the speed by pressing a couple of buttons – it also has another main pcb controling a split phase capacitor motor.
Changed motor on this about 9 mths ago for a friend (dont usually get involved in these and wish I hadn’t :rolls: ). After about 3mths they phoned up saying that the hood was making a buzzing noise if left on at the mains. Went and had a look and all worked ok for me and for them for the next 3 months and then started to make noise again intermitantly but now is there all the time it is connected to the mains.
Went to day and had another look and sounds like a transformer noise on first inspection altho the only transformer I could see was on the main PCB. When I disconected the neut from the motor the noise stopped and when I put a voltmeter between the neut on the motor and the connection on the term block i was reading 240v so the electronic module looks like it is putting the motor in circuit even when not switched on at the speed control.
Fan motor works when switched on but speed eractic in that you have to swich switch speed right up to get it to start and it doesnt slow down or stop till you switch the off button and the buzzing noise is still present even when the fan motor is going. Changed capacitor and still the same.
Just wondered if anyone had any experance of these and wondered if this was a main board fault (£200+!!!) speed select board or possibly motor again? There does look like there might be a seperate transformer fitted looking at the expolded view at BSH although I didnt see one while I was there only on PCB but wondered if this might cause speed probs? Could be transformer and certainly sounds like a loud magnetic hum but does sound like coming from motor.
Any help appreciated – thanks
Do Bosch have any tech help lines for these?
Thanks
Mick
