Motor started struggling on my bosch DHE635BGB/01 cooker hood.
I removed it and tried oiling it which worked but the fan cover now osilates slightly on rotation causing a loud rubbing so unless someone knows how to resolve that I’ll need a new motor.

New motor is £100 (http://www.partmaster.co.uk/cooker-hood … _ref=68741) whereas a generic one is £25. The generic has wires red, black, brown and WHITE. Whereas the original motor has red, black, brown and BLUE. The blue wire goes to the cooker hood open/close switch.

Anyone able to advise on that? I really don’t want to spend four times as much if i dont need to.

I’m not sure that a generic one would work.

I saw those generic hood motors a short time ago and to be honest, they’re probably fine for engineers to carry and mess about with but I’m not so sure that more inexperienced people would be okay with them. Reason being you’d likely have to muck about with the mounting and figure out the wiring as well, too many ways to go wrong in my opinion.

However, the one you did find, whilst correct is over-priced as I looked into it and added that here:

It sounds as if the bearings are shot on the original one you have.
