model sgs43e08 the pump is ok and there are no objects jamming it , but its not emptying
i can’t trace the wiring as it dissapears behind the main pump, i inspected the module for obvious damage but it looks ok ,
i dont do many dishwashers, could there be a blockage somewhere ?

If the pump actually works but doesn’t drain then a blockage very likely. If the pump doesn’t run at all then a electrical type issue of course.

Next question…..does the drain pump run? 😕

Pumps on these empty straight from sump don’t they? Some even have inspection cover in sump which can be removed by customer if they RTM.
(BTW, won’t empty with inspection cover off.) I’d be looking first at the other end – sink waste spigot?

Ditto what Mike says (above) and in this case the pump will (as he said) not drain if the pump impellor cover is left off or that the T20 screw that holds it in place is also not screwed back and secure.

To check from the drain outlet pipe end you will first need to remove the black rubber flap valve within the pump impellor chamber in order to blow down and see if it’s clear before reassembly.

    HTH? 🙂

we thought it was partially blocked although we could not find anything in there ,it still only partially empties at end of cycle, i noticed it only empties in the last minute and only pumps sporadically ie short bursts of emptying, is that normal ? i tried another pump s/hand one but it made no difference

Yes that’s quite normal as it uses a ‘sicasym’ drain pump control system (I’ll explain later if you like on what the hell that means but best not worry about it in this instant). Suffice to say that the drain sequence is on/off/on /off/on off over a 90 second period. 😉

I’m pretty certain there must be a blockage of something, somewhere in the drain system causing the problem. Have you removed the flap valve and fully flushed out the drain from the drain hose end? I usually blast them with an air compression gun as bits of detergent tab paper, plastic bottle tabs and all sorts can block the drain beyond the pump impellor!

yeah i took out the flap valve and back flushed the outlet pipe using a hose from the main water supply still no joy , it still leaves some water in the sump about level with the top of the filter

Foreign object in drain part of fill matrix? Shard of glass and you won’t see it.

    Re: bosch d/w not emptying

there was a nominal piece of glass in the outlet pipe , however i checked the cover that fits over the pump as previously mentioned, i did not realise it had to be fitted in a certain way ie tilted in with the front lip tucked under a flange, it now empties perfectly , i suspect the customer had removed it and replaced it wrongly, and i had not realised

It always pays to ask whether anyone else has worked on it when you get a problem like that as they’ll never tell you voluntarily. Even when it’s obvious that that’s the case they’ll sometimes deny it 😯
