The salt usuage has increased so much it needs refilling every two weeks. It is out of guarantee and we are quite disappointed as our ols bosch machine lasted over 10 years and this is barely 5 years old and has half the useage. Anyway cant afford £90 callout etc etc so been checking around and most likely culprit is valve on side of salt pot. £20 ish.

!/ Is that a good diagnosis?

2/ Do i have to remove the left hand (from the front) side panel and start dismantling till i get there.?

Is it called a regeneration valve.

Thanks for any info you have.
    .

Having also bought a bosch washing machine and tumble dryer hope they last longer.

Your diagnosis is good and in answer to your 2 questions : Yes and Yes!

The only other reason salt is used so rapidly is simply that the salt cap isn’t secured properly. 😉

Dave in the UKW shop should be able to help. An email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should get things started.

As there are several different versions of your appliance you will need the last two digits of the ENR number to ensure you recieve the correct part SGS46E22GB/??

    HTH 🙂

Oh yes it is, they are! And, as Don says, you need the full ENr number when looking it up on the Bosch site. ALSO don’t put spaces between the numbers and letters as you have done in the post heading. Computicators and laptopmabobs don’t like spaces, makes them trip up or spit out Error 404 messages. 😉 8)
