This is my first post so apologies for being too wordy.

My 5 year old Bosch DHI635HGB extractor hood failed, preventing both the extractor and the light from working.

This model has 2 rocker switches for the motor (for 2x and 3x speeds) alongside the light switch on the front right of the unit which normally operates without the hood being pulled out. The main rocker switch that activates the motor is on the inside of the switch unit and is activated by pulling the hood out.

The problem previously occurred a few months ago and I thought it then unlikely that both the switches were faulty so suspected the external isolation switch which is fused. After several attempts replacing the fuse (which is in a pull out holder but was not blown) the unit started working again normally so I thought it was just a bad contact with the fuse.

But when it happened again I got an electrician to check the isolation switch and he confirmed it was ok and there was mains voltage at the input to the hood, but while checking the power supply the motor started again then failed shortly after.

I tried switching the isolation switch off and on and when the light was switched on the motor briefly started then then everything went off again. So it is still unclear where the fault is but it is unlikely that the switches for both the fan motor and the hood light are faulty, so I guess it must be bad wiring in the switch assembly.

So does anyone know how to dismantle the hood to access inside the switch assembly? I was only able to remove the 2 screws holding the cover over the switch assembly, but the cover did not come off. Dave Conway in spares sent me an exploded diagram of the whole thing but this doesn’t show how to dismantle it.

    Thanks.
