    Hi

I was called to a Bosch slimline dishwasher not filling, it turns out that they have just had the kitchen re-plumbed.

The aquastop valve has been fitted pointing upwards and when the machine is turned on you get a short burst of water then nothing but the valve is humming. In the instruction book it shows the valve fitted pointing downwards, I suspect that this is a plumbing fault and not a faulty valve and hope someone could confirm this would be the case.

    Thanks

    Colin

Set vertical shouldn’t impact on its performance Colin but you could always take the valve off the stopcock and put a fill hose between the two to test it. 💡

i’d say it should be vertical downwards as per the confusing lightening bolt symbol. i have seen them work fine horizontal. as suggested a quick test with a hose is worth doing.

    Hi

    Thanks for the input.
Yes would have tried that but didn’t have a hose connector with me, I hope to return Friday

My understanding is that they will work fine in all directions. But will not activate correctly in the wrong position. When installing new machines we had a simple 3/4 pushfit connector to 15mm pipe / elbow and new tap. You could afford it them days when the appliance sold for nearly £900

I think the only reason they say to point downward is that if the inner hose leaks (highly unlikely as we all know) the water will run down the outer hose into the base of the dishwasher activating the aquastop float. That is the whole reasoning behind these waste of time devices. have they a water softner in the house? odds on that’s the fault if so.
