ParticipantSGV4313GB/17. This D/W does not dispense the detergent. I replaced the actuator with one i had on the van which im sure works but still nothing. The actuators read from memory around 2.3 kohms. If the actuator is ok i guess it can only be the board or can there be anything else? Can the actuator be tested with 240v accross its connections?
Thanks

Yup, it’s a wax motor, so the rod should be expelled in around 20/30 seconds.

Look closely at the surface mounted triacs on the board, chances are the dispenser triac has blown (corner missing usually). 😉

I tested the actuater with voltage and it went bang!
Now, did it do this because it was faulty or something i did wrong? I looked inside it and see its just a bimetal mechanism with a ptc. Ive checked the board but cant see any blown triacs dry joints etc. I just want to make sure before i buy £125 board that ive covered everything. Does the board energise the actuater at a set part of the programme and not when say certain water temp is reached? Although it is heating the water and i know from the past (on these machines) that the tablet gets released even when the heater is faulty. Is this a common board fault? Thanks

Yes happened to me. Replaced module UKW job because of usual dryjointed faulty heater relay. Totally unconnected one month later module blew up due to dispenser actuator going short.Blew tracks off board on mine. Had to cover warranty on module unfortunately due to UKW charter rules.

Your comment Simon prompted me to check up on that and my investigation reminded me of the fact that a comprehensive 6 month guarantee applies with regard to UKW charter rules, as they stand right now anyway. And well for you in honouring that.:D
And on further investigation I have found that a ‘similar’ organisation has, in recent years at least, ‘bent’ their previous hard line ruling by rewording their charter thus…“All repairs carried out will be guaranteed for up to 12 months at the discretion of the repairer”… 😯
My point being that the last line of that, their statement (“at the discretion of the repairer”) is affectively nonsensical and therefore could in theory be non-valid, a worthless guarantee in effect and at the behest of the “repairers” whims and fancies no doubt.:rolls:
A strange development indeed because at one time and across the board, a full one year guarantee was always the pre-requisite to membership. How times have changed eh? 😈
