    Hi all,

Can anyone offer some advice on a dishwasher problem we’re having?

A brief history; Last week our integrated dishwasher (Bosch SMV63M00GB/21) threw up an E15 and E23 error code. The E23 code went away as soon as I replaced the pump. Sadly, the E15 code remains; The pump runs continuously trying to drain away water, even though there is no water left inside the machine. Having taken the side panel off, I can see the plastic container (heater exchange?) is full of water so perhaps it is trying to empty this?

When the dishwasher is out and tilted backwards slightly, the E15 error code disappears, the pump stops and the machine will run without fault on any cycle. As soon as the dishwasher is positioned upright (i.e. as it’s meant to sit under the kitchen counter) the E15 error appears and the pump spins away.

I’m wondering if it’s something to do with the float switch, but I’m not entirely sure where to go from here.

The fact I can make it work simply by leaning it backwards by 5 degrees makes me think it’s a simple fix.

    Thanks for any advice 🙂

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I’ve had another look and found a couple of leaks from the heater exchange. This might explain the different error codes and damaged pump. So yes, you were right, there is water in the base!

Re: Bosch Dishwasher – E15 Error Woes

Having just cleaned out the water from the base of my SMS40C12GB/18 for the second time ( last time 16 months ago)Thought i would share my findings.

Obviously with the number of postings on various forum’s, this is a re-occuring problem on these Bosch’s.

On removal of the R/H side panel and the lifting of the insulation you can see where water and gunk has been dripping down into the base of the machine.
This is happening because the plastic base is warping from the heat where it joins the stainless steel cabinet.
Bosch service engineers have obviously had a lot of call-outs to this problem in that Bosch have fitted a seal strip to the 3 sides of the machine to get over the issue, only problem is because they clip onto theplastic base they also warp thus allowing water to seep through the distorted gap. Also on this R/H side they have bonded a piece of Heavy Duty polythene to the Stainless steel cabinet to direct the splashes of water to the underside thus avoiding any electric’s.
Bye the way these sealing strips must have been an afterthought because they don’t appear on their exploded diagram’s for spares.

Mary, the link you gave was to a North American website and not entirely relevant to UK models. Especially so as in THIS thread the E15 error is caused by a leaky tub seal. A common failing toward all Bosch, Neff and Siemens dishwashers with a plastic tub. 🙁

Just so you know Martin I have deleted Mary’s post and banned the user.

While the link was a genuine American link the poster was in fact in India!! I think our Mary was testing the water before posting a lot of advertising.
