ParticipantWe’ve been given my Dad’s Bosch SGS69A02 dishwasher.
It’s about 18 months old and was a top-range model, that he paid £500 for.
It does clean very well, but we’re concerned about what happens at the end of cycle.
Our previous Hotpoint would empty all the water out, then put the heaters on to dry the pots.
This Bosch leaves water in to a level of about 3mm above the bottom grid. The display reads “1” for about 10 minutes, then the pump runs and the water is pumped out. Should it be doing this?I’ve done a forum search and read the similar comment, with the reply that it may be underfilling and needs a hose cleaning out.
If so, do I tip the machine on its back and access from underneath, or go for the kick-panel on the front?
Or, is it supposed to work like this? I can’t see how it dries if there’s water left in it right to the end.

The hose problem relates to fill, not empty, problems – if you are brave enough, it’s worth checking periodically. Access involves removing the door panel and the lower cover. Power off, of course.
A general drain procedure should drop the water level below the filters (they’re never quite empty), so you may have a restriction somewhere. Easy check is the coupling under the sink, if applicable. It chokes quite easily. The drain procedure is via a matrix on the left side of the machine and that’s when it all gets rather involved……..
However, if the crockery’s clean and dry and the machine is not faulting (it lets you know 🙂 ), don’t worry too much.

Hi
Its worth noting also that these use an inline heater (not visible) to wash and dry by giving a hot final rinse combined with rinse aid to dry the crockery, so different dry process than old appliance but still effective.Greg

Hmm.
I’m not sure whether I have a problem or not then.
The machine washes beautifully. Drying is OK too. The pots are not “red hot” when they come out as they were on the old Hotpoint, but they are dry.
What is bothering me is that the display counts down quite accurately, minute by minute, until it gets to “1” and then just sits there for 10 mins before the discharge pump runs. I can then hear water rushing out and can see it outside the house going down the drain.
Once it “thinks” it’s finished and the display reads “0”, all water seems to be gone and everything’s OK. It’s just that 10 minute delay that bothers me.
Maybe I don’t have enough to worry about. I’ll try and get out more!
