I replaced the heat pump on a Bosch SPV40C10GB/28 07/08/2017
This heat pump failed so replace under guarantee 07/03/2018
After changing I opened the heat pump and found a light coating of calcium.
Now the heat pump has gone yet again.

On all visits the salt reservoir has had salt in it. The customer says the machine uses salt and they fill the salt regularly.
The salt setting is on max which is correct for the area.

The filters and spray arms were clean.

I’m at a loss as to what’s causing this.

Would a light film of calcium cause these pumps to fail?

How much is “thin” coating of calcium?
I would suggest that if the softener is working correctly, the salt chamber is being refilled with salt regularly, the filters and spray arms kept clear and the correct detergent being used there shouldn’t be any calcium on the element, and that is a good reason why your heat pump has failed.
Since you say the softener is set to the max, I assume you’re in a hard water area, I would suggest that the user is probably waiting for the salt light to appear before refilling with salt and that is why you’re getting the hard water wash giving you your scale.

is the heater open circuit or earthed?

Also if they are using these all singing and dancing tablets… it could be oversudsing, heaters dont like heating foam very much.
