Got one of these (483257 = 491756) with a split inlet “sealing”(hose) where it joins to the motor. This sealing comes as part of the heater box, apparently. Looks to me like I could get the old one out and stuff a replacement in if I could get a replacement.
So anyone know where I could get such a thing? Or has anyone got an old box with duff element they could sell me?
    Thanks,
    Mike.

You will have to buy the complet heater assembly as doesn’t come seperatly. Think you will find people keep the old elements when the distributors fail, got loads of elements but no heater boxes, sorry!

Boselecta, does this mean you pull the elements out and chuck away the box? If you get one in the next week or so please remember me!

hi sorry what i meant was when the distributor units go on top of the heater box, I normally remove and keep the element so i have a few elements, I then chuck the ‘faulty’ box.

Have sent for 483657 @ £42 etc.(Connect). Looks the same as the £60+ parts to me.

hope it is the same, there are at least 3 versions that i have fitted, the one with and without the aqua sensor and one with a larger fitting to the sump.

Yes this cheaper version is described on BSH as “without aquasensor”. But I don’t know what the aquasensor is and I’m hoping that whatever it is I can swap it from the old box. Anyway it’s thundering along some road towards me from Birmingham now so I’ll just cross my fingers. 🙂

I think the one without the aquasensor now comes with the hole blanked off so you would not be able to swap the sensor from the old one.

Nope, it arrived a quarter of an hour ago and I’ve spent all that time trying to determine some difference between it and the original part. The only slight change is in the colour and shape of the stat/toc mounted on top. I might swap that for the old one just to be sure even though it has exactly the same connectors. £42 vs. £62 and THEY’re trying to tell US how to beat the recession! 😆
