ParticipantI have a Bosch 2462GB/19 dishwasher. It got blocked (husband thought he’d save time by not scraping the plates) and flooded the kitchen. Now it won’t work again. From what little I know of dishwashers, I think the flood-prevention mechanism has been tripped to stop water coming in? I know other dishwashers have an obvious reset switch, but not this one – checked out the manual and hunted around with no luck. Last time it tripped (don’t know why it happened then) husband just ‘shuggled’ it and it restarted. No joy this time.
I’m in the Scottish countryside, and have real trouble locating a serviceman – can anyone help online? Thanks so much.

Cloviscat,
Can you please supply the full model number please? It should have a 3 letter prefix 😉
Meanwhile, you will need to thoroughly clean out the sump of dishwasher under the filter to ensure the pump is not blocked as well.

I think the whole number’s wrong actually.
There’s a WFO2462 or WFL2462 – both are washing machines.

Hello Martin, Dave – thanks for such a prompt reply!
I’d carefully read your post, Martin, about quoting all the right codes- but I guess I still got it wrong because I didn’t know the right ones to quote…
I think the three letter prefix you talk about is
SPS
On the inside of the door it says SPS2462GB. The manual just says SPS 20/24 on the front. The other number the manual mentions is the FD number, which is 7906 680375.
I hope this helps.
I did remove the the ‘combined coarse/fine strainer’ and the ‘microfilter’ as shown in the manual, cleaned and degunked them, and checked as far as I can tell for any other blockages.
Thanks again

Cloviscat,
2 things you need to do then,
Firstly, turn off the water supply, remove the inlet hose (either from the machine end or the stop-cock end) then immediately reconnect it and turn the water back on!
Finally, carefully pull the machine forward and lean it backwards by about 50 degrees, in case the base of the machine has become flooded due to the overfill problem you had. (Have a couple of towels handy on the floor to soak up the water!)
Please do ensure during both these tasks to switch off the machine AND un-plug it from the supply 😉
Let me know how you get on 🙂

Yippeee!
Martin, thank you so much, that’s done the trick!
I had a dreadful girlie struggle with the stopcock, gave up on the inlet hose at the back of the machine, but managed the one under the sink (do you guys have bruises all up your arms?) The hose only just reaches, so it was even more of a struggle to get it back on.
Then remembering my geometry enough to work out what 50 degrees looks like – and yes a little puddle did appear, but I don’t care because when I plugged back in again, there was a heavenly sound of water filling, and a lovely shower going on when I plucked up enough courage to open the door a few minutes later.
I am extremely grateful for your quick and most effective help. I shall plug this web site to the skies!
My funds are tight, but if you name a charity, I’ll make a goodwill donation in appreciation.

No donation required my pleasure. 🙂 Perhaps I could just ask you to pray the rain goes away so I can visit the Edinburgh Festival on 20/21st without an umbrella 💡

Having just spent the morning in Edinburgh in the p***ing it down with my very soggy toddler, I’ll say Amen to that.
Have a lovely visit Martin. Tourist information/Heritage interpretation/Visitor Services in south and central Scotland is *my* area of expertise (before becoming a Mum, anyway!) so on the remote chance that I can do anything for you, just let me know.
With all my thanks again
