    Hi,
just trying to connect up a dishwasher, previous owner had a dishwasher and the water value was setup with a plastic valve resembling hep20 valve, should a modern bosch inlet valve fit this?
i’m struggling to fit it, i’ve screwed in the inlet valve as much as possible but when i turn on the water supply its gushes out the from inside the bosch inlet valve screw/connector.
i tried plumbers tape and still the same.

at this point i don’t know how old the plastic water valve is (hep20 type) , im looking to purchase this (https://www.toolstation.com/washing-…hoCS0gQAvD_BwE) connect this to the hep20 valve then fit the inlet valve onto that,

    my machine is bosh SPS66TW00G

oh the pipe is copper, i was wondering
    thats ok then
tap you have limked to will fit

remove old tap off copper pipe and replace with the other one

the reason the one you have does not seal is the thead is too short and it hits the shoulder before the thread hit the water seal

    correct

    turn off water

remove the old tap completely. I am assuming the plastic tap has a plastic nut so you need to use the new metal nut. You may need to cut the pipe behind the olive of the old tap
you can get removers but it gets expensive https://www.toolstation.com/olive-puller/p32737

i find it best to close the tap but take off the palstic tap handle

slide new tap over the pipe

then with 2 spanners to tighten it up making sure the tap stem is accessible and its held onto the pipe till it grips

replace the tap handle make sure its off and turn the water on a bit to check for leaks before opening valve fully

so found out that the plastic fitting was polypipe and its not unmountable for reuse (could try with unclipping each steel teeth etc), i was able to unscrew the polypipe fitting. cut off the pipe like you said as the clipping wouldn’t come off, added the mentioned compression fitting. its currently fitted and mains and no leaks.

items bought: compression valve, pipe slicer 6-16mm, one spanner

bloopers: left the tap at on and turned the mains on …small flood. planning to run an air heater to dry the area

still not fitted the dishwasher yet as its wet under worktop, will come back and comment once i got that up and running.

much appreciate the quick response and suggestion, thank you!
