    Hi,

Bosch dishwasher SMS40T52GB/09 came up E09. Tested the heater and had gone to earth (house isn’t fitted with trip switches.)

I ordered a new genuine heat pump part no. 00651956 and fitted. All worked fine until the 3rd wash when the error reappeared. Once again tested the heater and it had gone to earth again.

I contacted Bosch and they reluctantly sent me a replacement as the initial one they sent appeared to be faulty however once again I fitted the new replacement and after a couple of washes the same fault again.

filter is spotlessly clean, doesn’t appear to be any blockages so I cannot understand why it keeps blowing the heater.

I suppose there is a possibility that both heat pumps Bosch sent were faulty however that seems too unlikely.

    any thoughts? [h=1][/h]

or the heater relays are sticking causing the heater to overheat

time to scrap it as you would have to replace the board and the pump

    module is £222 from Bosch

“I suppose there is a possibility that both heat pumps Bosch sent were faulty however that seems too unlikely.” Don`t you believe it! Although what Electrofix has said is accurate and true as usual in my experience it is not at all unlikely that the stuff Bosch churn out, especially the achillies heel heater part of the heat pump (and it is a moot point on the motor section too!). Typically these heaters fail on the worlds most badly installed built-in Bosch/Neff/Siemens versions – the machine`s that take 40 mins to get out, do the job and 45 mins to refit only to find the piece of **** to fail within 3 mins of putting on test on the quick wash programme (would of happened on any wash porogramme not specifically the quick wash). This is what happened to me as the **final straw. Another new heat pump ordered and a very reluctant trade parts warehouse, who will remain unnamed, posted off another replacement which when fitted worked and as far as known still did about 1.5 years later – but that might just be luck?
All these heat pumps were genuine parts brand new in a sealed box.

Bosch group are amazingly troublesome dishwashers, because there are a mulitutude of other possible failures, mostly down to under base leaks – very common, loads of hassle to work on, probably designed by a group of sadists?
**Final straw comment. Previously around 8 months before “the final straw” I was doing loads of Bosch dishwashers and had 5 heat pumps jobs come in more or less one after each other. Everyone of them failed at just over 3 months, no trade warranty which meant I had to bear the cost of a replacement heat pump myself. Not best pleased it cost me dear. This last job I got sweet talked into doing, very reluctantly I did it and paid the price in time, money and grief. That was the very last job on Bosch group dishwashers I ever did, in fact for such a simple appliance yet abysmal stuff I decided other brands were a load of rubbish too for various reasons so late 2018/2019 I refused to work on any dishwasher and just stuck mostly with washing machines until I retired late 2022 after 40 years in the trade. It all left a bitter taste in the gob; I hate the things to this day.
Bosch know that their heatpumps are severly challenged, if they haven`t realized it then too something is seriously wrong.
