Bosch Dishwasher plates have dull stained surface

I have a Bosch Serie 6 SMI53E05GB dishwasher I have white bone china plates which after being washed in the dishwasher after a few times have developed a badly stained dull surface. I bought new white bone china plates and the same thing has happed.
I have searched the internet but cannot find a comparable problem or solution.
I hope someone might know what is causing this.

There is a whole section on different wash issues here I think your issue is in this section does it say on the plates they are dishwasher proof?

Thank you for your reply.
Yes both brands say they are dishwasher safe.
I did look on the area you suggested but couldn’t determine if the marks and stains on the plates were the same.
I do put salt in the dishwasher and have also run it on a cycle with vinegar but it hasn’t helped.

How hard is the water where you live?

Yes our water is hard. I do put salt into the dishwasher but I don’t think it collects it as it never needs refilling.
