Bosch Dishwasher Salt container smells

I have had a call to a Bosch SGV53E23GB.
The fault the customer is complaining about is when he removes the salt cap the water smells like sewerage.

I have never come across this in the past.

I have drained the salt container and the water appears to be a little bit murky.

I have flushed and refilled the salt reservoir a few times but can not see why it would do this.

The only thing I could find was a hairline crack in the salt cap. This was near the middle and didn’t look like it crossed the line of the seal. Also I have only known a faulty salt cap to let the salt water into the wash giving cloudy wash results and a taste of salt.

Has anyone else seen this?
