A have a 5 year old Bosch dishwasher SGS4012GB/01 which wont fill with water. Having read various posts I suspect the water inlet solonoid, but my question is how do I get at it? Does the top lid need to be removed before removing the side panels and if so how please?

    Many thanks in advance

It unclips from the back. But my guess is that a flooded base is the problem (internal leak somewhere?) causing the valve not to operate. Only the drain pump will operate in these circumstances 😉

If you are the least bit unsure, ( :zap: Electricity Kills! :zap: ) can I suggest calling out a local engineer to fix it for you (see link below) 🙂

Could also be gunged up in the metering system 😉

Thanks guys. I have got the top off and the left panel and there is no water only a little dust in the bottom and the water float valve is freely moving. How do I check/remove gundge in the “metering system”.

I am not bad at DIY, but the inlet solonoid looks as though it is still difficult to get at. Is there a simple way to access it – what else needs removing etc

    Thanks

First things first, when you start a prog you get the initial drain sequence after that do you hear a slight humming noise??

    Greg,

Yes it humms and in fact now the side is off I can see water is entering the the machine via the inlet valve. But if I let the programme run no water is coming out from the arms, nor swoshing about inside – just the noise of a pump or simalar?

    Any ideas now please?

    Ok Ian
Check that the filters and spray arm jets are free from blockages, reove and clean. Then try again.
How high is the water level when it has finished filling? Hopefully just below the strut of the lower spray arm.

    Greg,

Are there any filters other than the bottom stainless slot in gauze oval and lift off flat grid filters please? Arms look fine. Water level during fill comes to top of the flat stainless slot in filter (level with the internal bottom).

I have now taken off right side panel too to look at “pump” motor as no internal dashing water is circulating. There is no sign of the pump turning during the timer cycle and I have tried turning the internal aluminium pump viens by hand (with power off) and it is very very stiff. Also motor hot to touch as though power there, but jammed?

    Thank you again

Those “veins” should turn easliy, with appliance un plugged 🙂
Its either seized or a foreign object has jammed it.
To remove that recirculation pump does require a reasonable amount of strip down and would seriously consider the engineer link below.

    Greg,

I am sure you are right about the re-cirulation pump so I have to consider now whether to repair or scrap it. The re-circulation pump looks expensive do you have any idea what they cost if it is useless?

Irrespective your advise saved me needlessly chaning the inlet solonoid, so many many thanks again.
