Wonder if anyone can help,I got called out to this bosch dishwasher because the crockery is still wet after the machine has finished ,Water heats up o.k when on a wash the only other problem i noticed was that the soap tablet door wasn’t opening wonder whether these two things are connected would be grateful for any ideas Thanks Larry..

It certainly would help wash and dry the dishes that’s for sure. The 166635 ‘Dispenser Actuator’ solenoid may well need replacing in cases like this. Is the salt and rinse aid operating OK by the way?

Is there a way to watch a thread and be alerted with emails etc. other than by posting in it?
I’ll be watching this one because I had a Siemens dw doing this a month ago. Couldn’t find anything despite extensive investigation. They haven’t got back to me so I don’t even know whether it “fixed itself” or if they just decided not to make any further investment in it.

Yes. There is a tick box at the bottom when you post your item.that will then send you a e mail for each reply. You can go back into your post and edit it and tick if you haven’t done it.

Also make sure they’re not using a quick wash program as this has no drying cycle and that its not plumbed into hot rather than the cold supply .

I have just had the same problem with a hotpoint. It looks like faulty heater, it has high resistance .9 Mohms and the tablet door solenoid is wired in series with it.

Ah. The one I looked at (allegedly 6 years old) was plumbed into hot supply, IIRC. But it had always been so according to customer 😕 .
How would that affect it?

😕 But I get the emails OK when I post on a thread. I was looking to see if there was a way of getting alerts on particular threads I might want to watch but which I’m not ready to put my oar into 😆 .

I have to dissagree with Paul on that being as my Bosch dishwashers (current one very similar to the OP’s) have always run on a hot water supply (under 60 degs :wink) and drying has never been an issue.

Have to agree that a Quickwash programme doesn’t dry though. 🙂

I think I get it. If the water is already hot, the programme skips through too quickly and the plates don’t get time to soak up the heat and therefore won’t be warmed to their core. And so passive drying is not efficient.
Only one problem. Why was it OK for the first 5 years or so?
Wonder if he got a new boiler recently? Maybe I’ll give him a ring. Or am I barking up the wrong herring?

As i understand it , the cold water feed is used to create a cold area that helps draw the warm moist air off the load items. Much in the same way a washer dryer pumps in a little cold water into the bottom of the drum to assist in the drying action.
This is also the explaination for the large ‘heat exchangers’ on some models of our DW’s that fill with cold water that then create’s a ‘cold wall’ within the appliance to help condense the water off the plates etc etc

Dishwashers of all makes have relied always on residual heat only to dry. The condensation effect of those few with so called heat exchangers fitted and those with internal fans has no advantage over conventional machines as in this case.

I would venture to suggest that hot fill machines wash cycles are far quicker and also dry more effectively. I speak from long term direct experience with my own dishwashers. Another big plus is that they never get gunged up, no gungy slime build-up in water inlet matrix and sump hoses.

If you have a d/w then try it on a hot fill as that’s the only proof you’ll need. 😎
