ParticipantBeen to this one today, nasty burn mark down the side of pcb also melted one of the edge card connectors. I think this has been caused by water running off the worktop into the controls.
I have put customer in touch with Bosch as it looks like a complete loom with the damaged edge card connector.
My main question is do Bosch supply the edge connectors to their own engineers?
Is this fault water ingress or is it a fault elsewhere?

I’d be surprised if Bosch had managed to design a dishwasher susceptible to water ingress from the worktop area. You’d expect them to have thought of that. So I’d be looking elsewhere, e.g. heater, circulation pump etc..

They don’t usually suffer water ingress unless the plastic fascia panel is damaged in some way. The waterproof covers over the push buttons is simply that.
The reason for the burn-up is more usually caused by the transformer on the PCB catching fire (see here) 🙁New module = 644782 and complete wiring harness = 496935
HTH? 🙂

ParticipantThere’s a possibiliy , maybe , that it has probably been caused by steam escaping from the top right corner of the appliance……i’m saying no more !!! 😉
But there are a set of connectors available that are designed to be spliced in rather than replacing the whole loom….plus she may find that the engineer also fits a new door latch and maybe a set of new top rails and he may remove the top white seal….ok , thats my definite final word on the matter ! lol

Hello Nomad Paul. The customer contacted me today as I asked her how she got on with the Bosch engineer.
Everything you have said is correct. The engineer replaced all the parts you have listed.
I’m sure I speak for everyone in thanking you for taking the time as a manufacturers engineer in helping us out.
I am glad I suggested calling Bosch, as the customer now has the modified parts fitted and we cannot compete with direct product knowledge.
That said. This is why a lot of us recommend Bosch products and a lot of people listen to what their local engineer tells them.
I’m glad a spliced cable is available. Not sure if we can buy those, but at least I can enquire with Bosch spares if needed for a lesser fault. At least it makes the Bosch guys life easier!
THank you again -
