ParticipantHey i wonder if you can help me, im looking at the bosch dishwashers and mainly the SGS45C02GB or the SGS46E22GB and what i was wondering if someone here knew the depth of the dishwasher but with the door opened, as i need to know how much clearance is required from the back to the front including the space for hoses to see if it would fit in our kitchen.
cheers Ant

Hi Ant
No spec sheet or web site will tell you that I`m sorry to say. The only sure way is to arm yourself with a tape measure and visit the nearest stockist of one the models and take the measurements for yourself.

i thought that might be the case. i did go to currys and measure them but i just wondered if there were some official measurements as the clearance is tight for the door to open and i wasnt quite sure i had measured it right and wanted to double check. I wonder if you could answer another question then, do you know how long the inlet and outlet hoses are for the machines? also i was trying to loook for the maximum pumping distance as its more than likely the drain and probably also the inlet hose will have to be exteneded.

cheers AntIIRC the inlet hose is about a metre and the outlet is about 1.5 metres, however 2.5 metre inlet hoses are available from the shop here or from your`e local B&Q. You may need to measure to make sure though 😉 . Looks like a return trip to Currys may be on the cards.
As far as the maximum pumping distance is concerned I would not go over 2.5 metres.

dam the distance for the water inlet is about be 2.8 meters and the drain is about 3 meters. For the inlet hose it could run off a y split with the washing machine and i wondered if i could attach one of the metal flexible pipe type things used for attaching taps in awkard places to the y split and then attach the machine hose to that as that would bring it to about 2.5meters . For the drain i was going to attach it under the sink where the washing machine goes into the adaptor before the u bend by getting another adaptor from wicks so two machines can drain into the one outlet , but the drain from the sink goes behind the washing machine and through the wall to the soil pipe, i was wondering if i could put a standpipe on this pipe as it would bring the length of the drain hose to about under 2.5 meters then. sorry if this sounds confusing but i would be gratefull if anyone could give any advice.

As far as using a flexible tap connector goes i doubt you’ll find one with the correct end sizes…if you do that’ll be fine, although i suspect the machine fill hose isn’t quite as long as 2.5m. In which case get yourself another standard 1.5m fill hose and use a connector piece to join to the original hose.
If the drain pipe is 1.5in (which it usually is these days) then branching off another standpipe is the ideal solution.
As far as the depth of the machine goes, the rear of the machine is stepped in at the base at the rear to allow for hose runs so as long as the fill and drain plumbing aren’t directly behind the machine the it can go in all the way back to touch the wall behind 😉

Hey im back again, well after a trip to wickes it does look like the flexible metal pipe is written off as like you said the connectors are not the same. i was thinking now of getting a inlet hose to attach to the one that comes with the dishwasher and i saw in wickes a small metal adaptor called a universal bush that should allow two hoses to attach to each other. For the drain im unsure about the standpipe as if i attached it where i was planning to it would be after the sink and washing machine outlet and i thought that if the pipe got blocked just after where i would put the standpipe all the water might come up and out of the standpipe if it has nowhere else to go, so now i was thinking of getting one of those self cutting waste pipes as these have a built in anti backflow valve which would stop the any water going back into the dishwasher. sorry if this sounds confusing

Not confusing at all Ant, in fact the metal connector joining the 2 inlet hoses will be just fine. The universal drain coupling also will be OK. Though you need to regularly check that as they often are a major source of blockages with food debris thru use.
Keep your drain pipework as short as possible, avoid kinks and don’t allow hose joints to reduce the flow through restriction (22mm minimum required.) 😉

It’s worth pointing out that the point at which you connect the coupling needs to be sufficiently high to prevent syphoning 😉
