I am needing to know if there is a minimum height that the hot line must be for the dishwasher to fill properly and start the wash cycle?
A technician came out to troubleshoot the dishwasher as it was not filling and starting the wash cycle, he checked the dishwasher out and told us that the dishwasher was fine that the problem was with plumbing of the hot line not being a certain height. We have just renovated the kitchen and relocated the dishwasher with the hot line pipe about 4 inches above the floor.I am asking this question as I dont see how this would affect the dishwasher from filling and starting the cycle. The water temp & pressure are good.
Does the drain hose have to be a certain height as well, can I not cut off the access hose and have it directly into the drain on the floor which we installed under the dishwasher to eliminate the excess hose.

    Thanks

The dishwasher should be cold fill?
The drain hose should be about half way up ( half the height of the machine ) so it doesnt self syphon out.

LJDomestic, thanks for the reply. So even if it should be the cold line feeding the dishwasher, then is there a certain height that the cold line should be above the floor? I dont see how the height of line would have an affect on the start up of the dishwasher is this technician correct in what he told us?
    Thanks

It does not matter what height the inlet feed pipe is, it can go round in circles, loop the loop, be on the floor or the ceiling, only a poor water pressure will cause fill problems. Some Bosch dishwashers are listed as hot or cold fill but they do work better on cold TBH.

The height of the outlet pipe is critical, if it is to low it will drain/syphon out as LJD has intimated.

I imagine the technician was referring to the height of the water tank that supplies the cold feed…if thats too low you’d get insufficient water pressure at the machine 😉

Thanks iadom & cj for replys. The technician was refering to the inlet feed pipe and not the water tank height. The dishwasher was working before the renovation so the water tank had to be fine. As mentioned I couldnt see the feed pipe height being an issue as its all based on pressure, so I do agree with iadoms response.
I can’t find the manuals or install instructions for this make and model online does anyone no a website where I can get it?
Could a problem be with a part being stuck or faulty? and if so what parts should I look at on this make and model?
The dishwasher worked and I only moved the plumbing approx 3 – 4 ft from the original location.
    Thanks again

If it was working before the renovation then something is wrong with your supply piping. You can check this by running the fill hose into a bucket…see also if you can stop the flow by putting a finger over the end of the hose. While you have the hose off check the inlet filter isn’t clogged too.

Nope not the supply line Clive, lots of water pressure. Im leaning towards a part that is either blocked, stuck or defective. Is their filters on these dishwashers? what about solenoid valves? float switches? pump? pressure switch? sensors?
I am currently back in Canada and my partner is in the UK so I am not able to do much troubleshooting myself until I get back, so I am trying to gather enough info on what to look for when I troubleshoot.
My partner cant find the any manual and I have tried online here but this model is not coming up with anything probably because it is at least 10 – 15 yrs old. When she told me what the technician had told her I just couldnt agree with him as I know the height didnt have anything to do with it as it would be more so pressure.
If the drain hose is not allowing the water to fully drain would this cause the dishwasher not to operate or fill do to a valve or switch not opening or closing to signal the start of the cycle?
Thanks for the responses and help
    very much appreciated to all.

The issue may not be water pressure, rather flow rate. Having done anything with the plumbing supply the first check is the inlet filter which will collect any muck disturbed in the pipework. On your model it’s not very accessible….you will need to unplug (most important as the mains terminal block is adjacent to the inlet valve) then tip the machine back at 45o, the inlet hose attaches near the front underneath. The filter is just inside the valve and can be pulled out for cleaning. Removing the lower kick panel will make access easier.

If that doesn’t sort it then it will be the valve itself, i have had a couple over the years that just won’t let a full flush through 😉

Thanks Clive for the help, that will be the first thing I check on.
If the inlet valve is not blocked and the inlet valve is working fine what else could be the problem?
As mentioned would the drain hose height cause the dishwasher not to start its cycle?
Is there somewhere I can find the manual and install instructions?
    Thanks

Firstly, one step at a time 😆

Secondly, as has been said above the end of the drain hose needs to be above half way up the appliance to prevent syphoning whcih would affect the cycle.

Thirdly, it’s extremely unlikely you’d find any instructions for this model now let alone a manual 😕

    Cheers Clive,
I wont be getting back until June, so once I get back and have a look at the dishwasher and start troubleshooting it, I cant give any feed back but will follow up with everyone to let you know what I find.
    Thanks
    Rob

If anyone happens to have knowledge of a manual please let me know.
