Hi Folks, I am hoping someone can offer some advise on the issue we are having with a customers Bosch Dishwasher SMS46II01G/74, The customer advised us that it did not fill up with water and an error code of E24 was displayed. We checked the appliance and the customer was correct, the dishwasher starts up and the scavenge sequence commences but instead of then filling with water it starts to pump out again and continues this sequence until it times out and then displays an E24 error. If we manually fill it with a bucket of water it pumps the water straight out without any issues. we have had this issue before and changed the pump as we are under the assumption that the control module checks the resistance of the pump (which is why you have to fit like for like) to ascertain when the appliance is empty. Unfortunately this has not cured the issue, our next route would be the control module BUT this starts to get expensive on a eighteen month old dishwasher. Can anybody confirm how the appliance registers that it has emptied and have any ideas. Thank you for taking the time to read this Regards Neil

if its 18 months old its still under guarentee

    As for your other question
the board measures the pump current to determine if its empty. pump draws more current until its empty

that model is confusing as the first 2 number ones are letter I (eye)

have you checked the inlet valve ? and the circuit to it

if you have an inlet fault it will pump out then try to fill and if not will go into fault mode and pump out again

or is there no real gap between when the pump stops and starts again ?

    Hi Dave,
The Enr No. should be SMS46II01G/74, I have just powered up the valve from the plug from the module and it opens fine. Any other thoughts ?? Regards Neil

well if its not blocked and the pump is the correct one it sounds like a board fault

as a very long shot i would disconnect heater and see if anything changes. not likely but with the history of odd heater earth fault and what they cause its worth a try

Just a follow up on this one, it turned out that there was apiece of paper wedged in the circulation pump impellor, So it looks like the module takes a resistance reading from the drain pump AND the circulation pump, It took a while to fix, but I now have a very happy customer 😀 and I have learnt something new with these dishwashers.
    Thanks for your suggestions

    sort of correct
the module senses the current drawn by the pump to detemine when its empty. higher current means its still full

    its called “virtual sensors “

think whirpool started it ( cant be certain) but a lot of manufacturers are doing it now
