ParticipantLooking for help with this.
Old machine (10 years old) but used only 2 months a year, this fault has just started.
Refuses to fill and start cycle and both rinse aid and tap closed led’s flashing.
Left unplugged from the mains for a few weeks, reconnected and it works fine for a few cycles
then the same fault returns.Any advice much appreciated!

ParticipantPossibly leaking into the base, activating anti-flood. Switching off for a few weeks allows for leakage to evaporate, hence will run again, but only until possible drip leaks enough to re-trigger anti-flood.
Next time it refuses to run, power off, tilt machine back 45° to drain. If it then runs ok, it’s looking more likely it’s the above.

Moderatorit will be a leak
remove the lower outer door wrapper
remove the kick strip at the bottom
this will gove you access to a metal cover held on with 2 torx 20 screws.
remove this and look for water in the base
mop this out and the unit shouls run
now run the unit with the covers off but watch with a good torch and look around the base for leaks

ParticipantThanks for your reply Dave, however I removed the covers and checked, bone dry no sign of any water.

ParticipantAlways left plugged in and switched on at supply.
Before the two lights flash there is a sound of relays on the power unit operating briefly!November 17, 2023 at 9:26 am #488568electrofix
Moderatorone of the problems with a lot of appliances these days is they are not off. your unit has been in standby for 10 years. So even though your not using it the power supply has been on and in use. its possible the power supply capacitors have degraded and are causing your problem
With all modern appliances turn off at the socket, not only to make them last longer but also to stop the small amount of energy they use
At current prices your dishwasher is costing about £12 a year for doing nothing

ParticipantThanks for that info Dave, actually it is used in a rental cottage so although on during the summer for around 3 months, it’s off for the rest of the year ie unplugged.
Just wonder if I can remove and open the power module to see if those capacitors are faulty and I can replace them.
I don’t like throwing stuff away if I can fix it.
Thanks again for your advice.
