ParticipantI have the above dishwasher which is still under warranty with Bosch.
On Friday it made a horrendous grinding noise when I turned it on ….. so I turned it off 😕
Rang Bosch who warned me that if the engineer (who cannot come for over a week anyway) finds anything in the pump motor then I will have to pay for the callout. “have you had anything break in the dishwasher?”. “Look in the manual and it shows how to check for debris”.
Now I know nothing has broken in there but hubby and I got the manual, found the instructions (good job we have a Torx20 in the house 😕 ) but the diagram has little in common with the inside of our dishwasher.
We simply cannot work out how to get at the fan impeller!
The lady from Bosch did warn me to only follow the manual as any other “unauthorised repairs” would invalidate my warranty so we are loathe to start taking off any other panels.
Any hints?

Mmm thats a tuffy 😕
You cannot access the impeller as per instructions in your manual, it isn’t that type 😡
Only way is to remove pump from its housing and remove whatever is in there, but like they say, it will probably invalidate your guarantee :con:
Mayber someone has the answer on here 😀Greg

Did you take out an extended warranty on the appliance ? Some insurances that have accidental damage start the accidental damage cover from the date of purchase .
If it has a grey plastic base then its a little bit more difficult to access the pump yourself .

It is still under warranty with both Bosch and the company that provides extended warranty on all of our white goods but they both say that if they find any debris causing the problem then I will have to pay the callout fee of around £70 plus VAT.
Hubby took apart as much of the base as he could but still couldn’t access the fan impeller.
I’ve now been warned by a couple of people this afternoon that a piece of glass will probably be found even though I never put glass in the dishwasher and I will have to pay the charge full stop! I think that’s a slightly cynical view though……

The machine doesn’t make or have any glass in its assembly so thats a load of tosh; tell whoever it was that said that 😉 and the engineer Im sure doesn’t have odd bits of glass to chuck in Im sure.
If in doubt stay and watch what he pulls out. I always ask customers to watch, eliminating any doubt that It didn’t come from their machine 😀
The debris can be and I quote from my findings over the years –
in no particular order – glass,cocktail sticks,seeds,plastics,china,matchsticks (don’t ask)HTH

Well the engineer is due on Monday afternoon – so a week of washing up by hand :rolls: – and even IF he does say it is a fault of my own making and charge me the callout it would still be a darn sight cheaper than replacing the dishwasher 8)
I will also ask him to show me exactly how to clear the fan impeller myself as, according to the manual, we are meant to do this on a regular basis.
Thanks for all the advice 😀

Just an update. The engineer arrived as scheduled and agreed that on my machine it is not possible for the user to access the fan impeller :rolls:
He says it is the motor that has “gone”. New motor due to be put in in just over a week.
Thanks for your help 😀 .

Another update!
Engineer was due yesterday (sometime between 9am and 5.30pm). This meant I had to cancel the mother & toddler group I usually run on a Tuesday afternoon and tell my children (who are on half term) that I couldn’t even take them to the park.
I got a call at 3.30 to say that the engineer would now come “tomorrow between 9am and 5.30pm”.
So I cancel the arranged trip to visit friends. Now, I’ve had a call to tell me that the earliest an engineer can come is next week!!! This of course means that yet again I will have to try to find people to take my children to and collect them from school (two different schools)!
Thank goodness I don’t go out to work! I would have three days lost pay and still have no dishwasher!
I think I know what my response will be when they ask me to pay to continue my warranty! I won’t be buying another Bosch!
Can anyone recommend a company that cares about the people who buy their products AFTER the purchase has been made?

Have just done a long reply and it got wiped when I submitted it. So won’t do it all over again. Bosch instrucion sheet for this model does not match the access to the drain pump impeller. You can get to the drain pump impeller through the front by moving teh kick-plates etc. If anyone looking up how to do it for this model, just do a ‘reply’ to this message and if I get a ‘nudge’, I’ll come back on and explain how. It takes two people and is best done with teh machine raised up and lying on its back.

I’m not surprised it got wiped, you have replied to a five year old thread and TBH, some of your advice is way out to say the least. :rolls:
There is no repair on any Bosch dishwasher that is a two man job
If you are ‘in the trade’ then please apply for trade access. 😉
