ParticipantI thought I’d found a cause, or at least a symptom, with my G1143s dishwasher which usually stops soon after the cycle starts. The attached video shows the problem, water starts to fill, then it stops and a banging noise is heard:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sot1Fe8wD98I’ve kept the video short so it shows the fault happening only twice. The red Inlet / drain light flashes exactly six times, then a solid red light shows then this pattern repeats itself every 10 seconds. In the video, the banging noise can be heard at 1 second and 11 seconds. This repeats itself many times until either the machine somehow gets through it and works, or it stops completely.
I had thought I’d found a “solution”. That is, before the machine started, I used a cup and turkey baster to remove all residual water; the drain sump by the non-return valve is always full after a complete wash cycle. Using this method, the machine worked fine. But now, the same issue repeats itself, even if I’ve previously emptied the drain sump.
I’ve seen suggestions that the non-return valve. So I await that part from UK Whitegoods and although I don’t know if replacing the NRV will help as it shows no obvious sign of wear or worn rubbers. But I’ll replace it anyway.
The impeller doesn’t “spin” when flicked with my finger although it does move and click – presumably there is a kind of ratchet mechanism – but nevertheless it turns without much difficulty.
I’ve had two independent engineers who both appeared to fix the problem but only temporarily – without replacing any parts. And the fault has soon come back.
Any ideas on what I can try next would be much appreciated.

Moderatorfrom the video it sounds like the water is turning off and on
you may have a faulty valve
you may have a device in the inlet thats blocked and shuts off the valveanyway i would put a meter on the valve during filling to see if the voltage goes on and off

ParticipantDave,
Thank you for your prompt message. Of course you are right, it is my Miele G1143sc.
By the valve – do you mean perhaps the Aquastop type valve that is built into the Inlet hose.
If so, is UK Whitegoods sku – f 519071 as – the part that fits my Miele G1143sc dishwasher. I know there is no guarantee it will fix my problem of course,. But if there’s a chance that it will, I would like to replace the part anyway if only to eliminate a possible cause.

Moderatorwell the sound on the vid sounds like the valve is starting and stopping
the problem is why.
there is a long shot its the valve and the only way you are certain is if you take a voltage reading as it filling on the wires that feed it
if the voltage is steady its the valve. if it goes on and off then its somewhere elseDave
