ParticipantMy dishwasher tripped my RCD in the fusebox the other night. Since then the tap symbol is flashing. The machine fills with water, does the whole cycle but does not heat up.

Moderatorsounds like the heater has blown but needs checking
unless its old the heater is part of the motor so that part would need to be replaced

ParticipantTypically it’s over 2 years October this year. I’ll have a go at fetching it off myself and testing it with a multimeter, will have to do a you tube crash course of how to use one. If I cock it up i’ll probably end up getting an engineer out

Moderatorcould not be simpler.
put the multimeter on an ohms scale. look for the lowest one normally labelled 200. anything with K after it is way too hightake off the cover under the door ( 2 torx 20 screws). the motor is on the right side. remove the large plug in the side of the motor and note which connections the 2 red wires connect to. if they are not red it will be the 2 wires that are the same colour.
turn on your multimeter and touch the probes together. the display on the meter will change and probably go to zero.
not put the probes on the terminals where the 2 identical wires were connected to the motor. the reading should change if it does not then the heater has failed. to double check the meter touch the probes together again to see if the reading changesDave

ParticipantReally common the heater/motor failure and often repeatingly so too. Based on a SPV2HKX39G/01 the part number you would need is 012014980 called a heat pump priced at £87.23p via Bosch UK spares. But up look up your version to make sure.
Bosch are the main reason I ceased trading in d/washer repairs back in 2018, nothing but trouble and as I say repeated hassle with the new parts failing after 3 months – that part was the main failure point ( there are others ). It such a shame that Bosch dishwasher quality is in the pits because 25 years ago they were great with top notch parts fitted and a good design…..but those days over the years have now dwindled and are definitely now long gone ending up as utter rubbish in my opinion. Even a Curry`s essentials is more reliable at half the price.!!December 4, 2022 at 3:32 pm #484710Mitch125
ParticipantThanks, I’m just waiting for my multimeter to come from Amazon. Will have to wait a bit before we can get the part but with the advice I have had on here and you tube videos I feel confident I will be able to do it.
Strangely enough when we had our new kitchen fitted 2 years ago we had a Currys Essentials diswasher which was in perfect working order but changed it for this slimline bosch because it fitted the space. -
