    Hi –

My Bosch dishwasher (Type: S16P1P e-Nr: SMV40C30GB/55) started up on its own last night, stopping after 5-10 minutes with the tap symbol flashing.

I’ve checked at the water flow and inlet for any blockages, hoses are free and without kinks, drain area is clear and impeller running freely – a small amount of water has leaked from the front-left of the device, but nothing major, probably more to do with me shifting the dishwasher about.

Unplugging overnight, resets – no affect on the tap symbol, though the device has not started on its own again.

I’m now wondering if it had not finished a previous cycle before faulting…

We live in a hard water area, and a couple of times I’ve needed to check the water inlet and on those occasions, removing and reconnecting seem to have fixed issues.

    Any advice for next steps?

Thanks very much in advance for your help.

More often than not replacing this fixes this for me (its behind the left panel near the water intake)

    Cheers Matrix.

is this switch replacement manageable for a keen DIYer?

Yes pretty straightforward, obviously disconnect power, remove left panel and you’ll see the old one (its just the little board part). Pop the old one out, new one in and reattached the connector and thats it.
