ParticipantAsked by friend to look at this as not my normal line of work.
Motor looks like it has gone as keeps humming triping out but not jammed.
Does anyone know whats involved in getting to the motor as it looks like it is mounted in some sort of housing inside the main hood and all that has to come out to get to the motor fixings.
There are a couple of screws that look like they have to come out to remove the housing but looks far more complicated than that.
Has anyone done one of these or knows quite what is involved in a motor change ?
Motor is about £170 from Bosch but even at that they might still want it doing rather than the hastle of having the hood changed – just want know what I’m letting myself in for before I say yes to doing it!
Thanks
Mick

Has it got a capacitor, some cooker hoods are capacitor start motors, dont know about Bosch ones though as only repair other brands like De Dietrich.
If it has a capacitor it might be inside the control PCB box or motor housing, hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Jonah
Looking at the Bosch exploded diagram doesn’t show a capacitor fitted – looking at the hood the motor/fan unit the motor is encased so the motor has got to come out anyway.
Just wondered if you tackle this from underneath or thinking about it – the false cowling at the top might come off alowing acess through the top.
Just wondered if anyone knew as kitchen quite posh and only wanted to disturb as little as pos as some of it all sealed to tiles.
Anyway told them the price of the motor and they said they would get back to me.
Looks like not many of you done one of these but just wondered if anyone had.

Being that its Bosch Mick I cant see the motor being faulty unless its really old, if its fairly new there might be something stuck in the fan blade, I’ve had screws, the actual supply cable, junction boxes, tape etc might be worth a quick check

Thanks Jonah
Did managed to get a screwdriver as far as the fan blades and they seem free enough but motor lockes up and then trips out when its switched on.
Prob is I can’t see how the motor unit comes out to check so just wondered if anyone had got one out before and could just tell me how to tackle it and whats involved. Can see a couple of screws holding the housing in it the bottom but there looks more to it than that to release the housing and motor asy. But I’m not all that sure if this is the way in? Could be though the top but i can’t remember if the flu/cowling asy looked as if it would come off. If it did it might provide access to the fixing screws for the motor but don’t know?
Thanks
Mick

ParticipantMick , its unlikley to be the motor. TBH , it’ll prob be something like the transformer or board as these are quite a ‘busy’ piece of kit.
Try the BSH website for an exploded view – You will need the full ENR to get the right appliance –
Her’s an example of a DKE995EGB/03
