ParticipantI have a Bosch SMS4042GB/14 dishwasher, which is some 17 years old now and still going. I have just had to seal my second drain hose split with duck tape, which is very effective. Fortunately both leaks have been visible under the sink. However, I am now concerned that further splits could occur and may arise in concealed places.
I recall trying to replace the drain hose at the time of the first split a few years ago, but failed to determine how to access the machine end of the hose, which simply seems to disappear into the body of the machine.
Any advice on how to access this end of the hose and what is involved would be very much appreciated.

Remove bottom front kick panel to access. Unplug power first…!!!! :zap:

Hello Martin and may I firstly thank you for not only a response, but a prompt one!
With the door shut, all that is showing on the front kick plate are two white, smallish, round-headed plastic plugs for want of a better description and I don’t know if these just pull out.
With the door open and laying on the ground, the kick plate goes back into the machine (to accommodate the bottom of the door as it opens) and then firstly there are two torx screw heads to be seen, which could be undone. However, there also appear to be a further two screw heads, above the torx screws, which are partially covered by the bottom edge of the open door and cannot be fully accessed with the door in place.
I’m hoping this doesn’t mean that the door has to be removed!!!

No, but removing the outer door panel will make access that much more easier for you.

Hello Martin
Rather than just making it easier, I would say it’s probably necessary if I’m to access the upper pair of screws on the kick panel. I assume there are no more screws retaining the kick plate other than those we’ve mentioned?
The ‘beading’ round the door front panel seems to be retained by three torx head screws on either side and four along the bottom edge. If I remove all these, will the beading and door panel be released without any need to do anything to the control panel at the top of the door, into which the panel seems to fit to some extent?
Assuming I can successfully remove the kick panel, I take it I can then access the machine end of the drain hose without turning the machine on its side or back, or would either of these manoevres make the job even easier? Such moves I presume mean syphoning all traces of water out of the machine first?

Don’t know what you mean by “beading” but anyway the outer door panel is indeed held in place by those Torx screws. Remove them and the outer door panel lifts away clear!
Oddly there appears to be two other participants in this thread, ‘romaka’ and ‘giombett’ both also are having problems getting the door off for some reason…….?…..very odd?

Hi Martin
OK and thanks again. You didn’t answer the question about whether I would need to lay the machine on its side or back, which I would rather not of course. Is the drain hose connection towards the front of the machine as I find it hard to imagine that there is still enough room under the machine to do this disconnection, even when the door front panel and kickplate are removed?
I also do not understand what is happening with Messrs ‘Romaka’ and ‘Giombett’. They just seem to be repeating parts of my thread.

Leave the machine upright at all times, access easy once the outer door and front inspection panel are removed. The rest is obvious from that point on………..

Hi Martin.
Ok and thanks for all the advice. I may not attempt this repair for a couple of weeks as we are having relatives to stay. As soon as I can, I will give it a try and let you know how I get on.
Bye for now.
