I have a Bosch Classixx 1400 Express washing machine and the drum won’t turn.

(Number inside the door is E -NR WF02866GB/07 FD 8409 601 031 in case that helps)

The machine starts to fill OK if I put it on a wash cycle but then the process just stops. There is an occasional click but nothing happens.

Drains OK if I put it on the drain cycle.

    —————–

I read somewhere that if I checked the drain, this might solve the problem, so I checked the drain which was a bit gunky but seemed clear enough. Then I put the machine on a rinse cycle. Lo and behold the drum turned and the cycle completed normally.

I put the machine back in place and tried the rinse cycle again. The drum no longer turned.

I checked the drain again and it’s definitely clear. The impellor in there turns, generates a bit of resistance, turns etc. I don’t know if this is normal or if it should free turn but it doesn’t feel ‘wrong’.

I put the machine on its side and removed the rubber seal connecting the drain to the drum (and to a white tube with wires) to the drum to check that. There was an old bra wire in there which I removed and put everything back together again but still the drum won’t turn when operated.

    —————–

The drum itself moves freely by hand so I don’t think there is anything physically stopping it.

The machine had been working fine until it stopped (so no signs of deteriorating performance)

So I’m wondering if there is some sort of interlock to do with the drain that might be stopping things working that I can either repair or bypass

If it’s not that, them I’m think I’m going to have to take the motor off and have a look at the brushes but I would have expected a deteriorating performance if that was the problem.

    So,
    – is there an interlock I can fix or bypass?
    – if the brushes are the problem would it have just stopped in the way described?

Does anyone have any thoughts please.

    many thanks

Yes, get a look at the motor and see if it needs brushes first.

The cheap carbons for that machine are here: http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/bs12103- … on-brushes
