went to this m/c two days ago ,Sits and the valve hums then you hear a sudden rush of water and it starts to fill but not at any great rate eventually it starts ,I suggested cust have water supply checked for pressure prob ,He has its okay ,So I am going back in tommorow as apparently “I have obviously mis-diagnosed it ! “
I had one of these in a hotpoint disguise once but I’ll be darned if I can remember what it was

If it’s the same type as the Hotpoint 78?? series, i’d check the hose pipe from bottom of measuring chamber to sump, if the pipe is the corrugated type then they have a tendancy to build up with sludge, causing problems with filling, sometimes won’t allow to fill, other times to overfill, i think from memory the new modified hosepipe is just a black rubber one, hope this is a help, if its a new Bosch d’washer watch out for sticking magnet
( float sw’) in sump of machine, crappy design, very prone to giving water intake problems, hope this is of some help.

    Hi Lawrence

Over the years i’ve had three or four of these where the valve doesn’t let the full flush of water through…very unusual for a valve i know but it has happened. The usual symptom is the tank fills then overflows down the syphon at such a slow rate that the float doesn’t move, the tank keeps filling and then the little flood chamber at the bottom rhs of the tank unit fills, locking the valve right off. The cure?….new valve!
I have had a couple of partially blocked softener fill venturi’s at the top of the tank too…hard water area here WEYY HEYYYY 🙂 Even easier to cure…remove the inlet hose at the top of the tank (hard work) and push a piece of stiff wire in easy!
    Hope that helps?

    Clive
