I have a fault on a Bosch model SGS43T58GB/21 dishwasher. Having started a cycle, after staring to fill, it displays CHECK WATER. It continues to fill. We’ve tried RESET – when using this the machine attempts to pump out water – but stops quite quickly. If we disconnect the drain hose from the waste system, and lower it to about 30 cm, it succeeds in pumping out more water. While this reduces the water level in the machine, it still continues to fill and display check water once a cycle has been selected and started. We’ve removed the side panel so that we can see the pipework and the plastic ‘matrix’. We’ve checked that the drain hose is clear, and cannot see any blockages in the matrix, although the area round the float valve at the top is very mucky – the float valve does move. Water supply appears to be Ok and filters clean – the machine has been working fine for the past year or so. Have not been able to check the inlet valve as yet (by measuring resistance) as it is fairly inaccessible at present – can’t seem to get the small rear plastic cover off without a lot of hassle. Could it be the impeller that measures the water coming in? Can’t see why this would affect the draining though.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

You’re correct in thinking its the impellor.
A faulty impellor jug willl give a continuous fill/empty/fill/empty cycle with the check water light illuminated , just as you described.

Part number is 424099 and is obtainable from BSH appliance care on 0844 892 8921

EDIT : On a drain cycle , once you’ve reset it , it won’t pump continuously but will drain/pause/drain/pause about 4 times before going into a continual drain
