ParticipantHi,
Sold a Bosch WAE24367 washing machine to customer who specifically asked that it had start time delay function.
Later customer complained machine selected minimum 3hr delay then started within 15 mins.
Bosch engineer called out and said machine faulty and advised to get new one delivered as it was still within replacement period 😡 – no comment.
He also said, and instructions certainly imply this, that selection should be from 1hr to 24hrs delay.
I ordered replacement and before delivering tested the delay start time.
This one also selected 3hrs minimum delay – UNTIL…
I thought I would set the delay to see if it started after a short period. I selected drain then set the delay – low and behold 1hr popped into the window.
I then selected each program in turn (clockwise round dial) and the results:
Cottons 30-90 deg selection min delay 3hrs
Mixed load 40 selection min delay 3hrs
Super quick selection min delay 1hr
Rinse spin selection min delay 1hr
Drain selection min delay 1hr
Wool selection min delay 1hr
Delicates selection min delay 1hr
Easy Care selection min delay 2hrsThese appear to be very definitely programmed.
My Question – is this a fault or was the engineer wrong?

I just fired up a WAE28367GB the 1400 spin version and yes the delay times are as you quote so your machine is is a good one.
Perhaps Bosch have changed the spec on the delay but not updated the instruction manuals.
HTH 🙂

But hold on a mo….you’re reading the destructions wrong…Using a Cottons 90 as an example you cannot set it for less than 3 hours for obvious reasons. But you can set it to any hour from the min of 3 to 21 hrs delay….simples! 😀
Once you hit the delay function the computerlator within the preprogrammed software starts a-counting down…….. :clown:
When you select the programme, the relevant programme duration is displayed. You can
delay the start of the programme before it begins. The Ready in- time can be set in
increments of one hour up to a maximum of 24 hours. Press the Ready in button
repeatedly until the required number of hours is displayed (h = hour). Choose Start/
Reload. It is not possible to make adjustments once the programme has started.December 16, 2011 at 5:14 pm #365598nomadPaul

Its not a delay setting as such . IIRC , its a ‘FINISH IN’ time so setting it for 3 hours means thats when it will END not START !
i.e If a programme selcted is an hour long and you selct 3 hours to finish , the actual cycle will start in 2 hrs . i.e 2 hour delay + the 1 hr cycle time = 3 hours !!!
Had this problem with a customer until i read the instructions properly myself !!
In short , you’re setting the FINISH time not the START

Hence thought it was faulty because he selected ready-in time of 3hrs for a cottons 40 (say 2hrs 40mins length), it counted down 20 mins and started.
Bosch engineer didn`t appreciate this by the sounds of it either as he got the customer to get me to replace it. His machine is probably ok and I’m stuck with the replacement.

Or, as the user intructions quotes “ready in time”.
I would like to know though, for my own personal reference, that you can then increase the time (using the Cottons 90 example) up to another 21 hours…?
