Bosch Exxcel 1200 S Express drum not rotating freely

Hi All

Please can you help me? I noticed an unusual noise on the final cycle of a wash on the above machine. The wash was fine and a further wash was OK but the noise was there again. With the machine emptied I tried to turn the drum by hand and noticed it is not spinning freely. It is rotating but moves tightly and with a squeak. Could anyone tell me what could be wrong and how to investigate and rectify please?

Hi All. It seems the drum is binding against the door seal as when I pull the inner seal back the drum moves normally. I can’t see anything stuck in the drum and the door seal appears fine. Any ideas please? Could something be causing the inner drum to have moved forward towards the door seal? Is this a case of removing the back of the machine and seeing if it is possible to retrieve any object without trying to completely dismantling the outer tub from the drum, and then finally doing a full dismantle if I can’t? It could be the drum shaft spigot has broken and the inner drum now rotates on an elliptical plane as a result. What is the full model number (ENR number) of the machine and what is the four digit FD number (FD????)

Hi, thanks for the reply. Numbers are E-NR: WAE2446SGB/12 FD8803. I’ve looked closer at the drum edge which is rotating against the door seal and the rotation has caused rubber to stick to the drum edge in places and there are tiny fragments of rubber on the drum edge. Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks Martin. From looking at the movement of the drum in relation to the outer tub through the holes and by rotating the drum by hand, the rotation appears normal, i.e. no noticeable elliptical type movement. Please can you explain how I would investigate this further? Thanks

Power unplugged, remove the belt then check again the orbital rotation of the drum. If the drum spigot is cracked the elliptical movement has only to be fractional in order for the drum to rub against the door rubber. An it will usually only strike one spot of the door seal each time.

Replacing the inner drum and bearings regarded as somewhat uneconomical. 🙁
