ParticipantRecently the machine stays on wash cycle. It does not drain, rinse or spin. It stays on wash whilst counting down but does not complete the cycle? 😕
Manual intervention to turn to drain or rinse does work.Is this the controller? or is there some other cause?
Is it repairable…..by an amateur?
😉
thanks.November 8, 2009 at 11:32 pm #302926nomadPaul
ParticipantYou’ll need to check the heating element for resistance and you’ll prob find its open circuit. The machine is waiting for the water to heat up…..which i suspect it isn’t doing.
The element is situated on the lower front edge of the tub.
Its not to bad a job to replace .PLEASE POWER OFF IF INVESTIGATING

Had a few recently with burnt out connectors – wiring repair sorts them. What was wrong with proper AMP tag connections anyway?

I ran a wash cycle again – you are correct the water is not heating.
Checked the element – measured 24 ohms. This isn’t open circuit. Is it the correct value?
The machine also seems louder when motor is running – a whirring/clicking sound? and I dont think it is spinning at full speed as when the washing comes out it is wetter than usual….
Any ideas?
thanks

Hi,
Sorry to hijack the thread but I have a similar problem on my WFO2866GB. (Bosch Classixx 1400)
Found that the blue spade connector on the heater element is burnt out. Has another fault caused this or can I just rewire? the heater element isn’t open curcuit.thanks

ParticipantA burnt out spade connector normally means a poor contact between the connector and the heater terminal which has arced , causing the melt damage
Be warned though that on a heating cycle the terminals/connector will need to convey 8amps minimum….so if you do fit a new connector , it needs to be done properly with the correct partsPOWER OFF IF ATTEMPTING ANY REPAIR.
