Bosch exxcel 1400 washing machine – will not spin

machine will run as normal – wash or just rinse.

But will not spin – pumps out prior to spin, but then no spin.

Filter and pump are clear OK; even with no clothes in drum – ie cannot be “unbalanced” – will not spin.

Any ideas please??

Could be worn motor brushes. Power off, motor off and have look, should be approx 1.5 inch form new to give you a guide 😉

Thanks for the suggestion. B ut the drum turns Ok during the wash and rinse cycles. Would it do that if the brushes were worn, I wonder??

have fitted new brushes – the old ones were bvery badly worn!! Thanks for info.

The machine now spins – but will only spion at slow speed. It goes approx half through then spin programme – and then the times jumps to end of programme. I ahve checked carefully that the load is not out of balance.

Again, any ideas please??

The brushes will need taking out again and the motor stripping and cleaning of excess carbon dust. The brushes will need ‘bedding in’ by selecting the slowest spin speed and running it on spin only a few times before then selecting the fastest speed and seeing how it goes?

Just had the exact same problem on my Exxcel 1400 check my post here:-

It’s been fixed today it turned out to be the motor and it had to be replaced
my old motor was not clogged up with carbon dust and the brush holders had fluid movement the problem was an arking issues to do with the copper thingy (sorry as you can tell I’m not an expert) inside the motor that conducts the current from the brushes. New motor was only £90 +VAT but had to add call out and labour to that so it cost £190 in the end but cheaper than a new machine and we still have our trusty machine now restored to full working order.
