Bosch exxcel dishwasher fills but wont start

Have a 10 year old bosch exxcel dishwasher, which fills and won’t start, timer counts down as usual. Have replaced the pressure chamber, but still no start. Machine pumps out, completes fill cycle but just wont start. Where do i search next? model number SRS45E22GB/01

the impellor in the sump spins freely

As the machine fills it starts the main motor when its about half full. you need to check if this motor is being powered up by the timer. If no looks more like a timer issue if yes look more like a motor issue. when you check the motor check for both live and neutral
You will need a multimeter set on AC volts to do this but be careful as you are dealing with mains voltages so unless you are comfortable doing this don’t and get professional help

The machine fills, timer clicks away and the pump surges for a second and stops. before i changed the pressure chamber the machine would fill and the the pump would pulse slowly and then faster and faster until eventually it started the wash cycle
