ParticipantMy Bosch dishwasher (2 years old) seems to have a mind of it’s own.
It works for a week or so and then starts playing up. When you select a program it seems to empty the water and then sits there sucking air and never going on to fill.
Sometimes it does the rinse cycle and then does the same as above with the tablet sitting dry at the bottom.
I have found a workaround, if I give the panel a knock (not very technical I know), then reset it and start again it seems to go through the cycle OK for a few washes and then starts playing up again.
It’s a bit worrying because after it has been sucking for ages, it starts to smell (motor overheating) a bit.
Any idea’s ??
Thanks

Steve,
Try this….tip your machine backwards (not sideways) about 45 degrees to see if any water comes out of the base (Have a floorcloth handy to mop up though!)..
On the other hand, if no water comes out….it could be the main circulation pump has seized….. 😯
POWER OFF FIRST THOUGH OK?:zap: :zap:February 4, 2006 at 11:19 am #163284gegsy

I would find the cause of the water in the base. The mains termination and supressor is close to base so would be very careful.
Best way is to remove r/h panel and soak up water.
Usual supspects for casuing this
1/ 3 in 1 in conjunction with rinse aid in dispenser
2/ Weeping fill valve housing (watch it closely will drip even when appliance off)Greg

I never said I had water in the base ????
Just sits there sucking sometimes, if i pour water in it empties it and then starts sucking again.
How does the machine know it’s drained the water, is there a sensor that could be faulty ?
Cheers

Steve,
When we refer to the “base” we mean the plastic baseplate of the machine where all the components sit and NOT the tub under the filters 😉
In the base there is a flood protection device and it is sensing that water is floating around in that baseplate. As a result only the drain pump will operate until the water is drained and the cause rectified!
Please note again my earlier post and the caution notice included ❗
