I have a Bosch Exxcel dishwasher–can’t give the exact model as I’m not at home just now. It’s about 2 years old, worked faultlessly
When I emptied it this morning I found something in the base that puzzles me. It’s a small white plastic framework with a fan in the middle. It’s about 2″ across. I also found the lower spray arm had detatched from the spindle
The spray arm went back easily enough but I’m a bit baffled by the plastic fan thing. Is it a part of the dishwasher that’s come adrift? I can’t see where it could have come from, but on the other hand I can’t think of anything I’d put in the wash that it could have come from. Any clues would be welcome

Seriously, it’s only me filling and emptying the DW and I don’t remember putting anything with moving parts in it recently

Try looking up ! It looks like the sprinkler/spinner that is located on the spray arm attached to the dishwasher roof !

Close. There is no spray arm on the roof of the chamber; the upper arm is under the top basket. That’s why I didn’t look closely at the very top to begin with. But when I did, I saw the rectangular bulge leading to a nozzle. The fan thingy clips round the end of that and presumably distributes the water more widely
