ParticipantHi,
I’ve tried to check the last 3 year of posts for this problem & I haven’t come across it, but apologies if I’ve missed it.
I have a Bosch Exxcel SGS56E02GB/35, which is approx 9 yrs old and I’ve stripped down a couple of times to clean out the matrix, pipes etc.
Recently however, it stopped heating the water and not drying properly.Hunting around the ‘net I surmised it could be the heater relay and examined the PCB. Sure enough one leg of the relay was burnt (see images). I’ve tried resoldering but rather than solving, it now has prevented the machine from coming on at all.
When it is switched on now, I get the panel to light up as normal and after a few seconds (when I expect the cycle to start), all the lights go off and nothing happens. After some time (Maybe 20 seconds or so)the panel lights come back on and then pauses for a few seconds before switching off again. This cycling repeats.
My next job is to actually replace the relay with an equivalent as I can’t find the original anywhere. Has anyone got a suggestion for this relay ?
If the new relay doesn’t work then I may have to junk the dishwasher unless anyone here has a suggestion ?
Many thanks for any advice offered.

If it worked fine before (apart from not heating) and then you took out the PCB and made good the burnt relay terminal then that should have sorted the problem. So I’m thinking you haven’t connected the control board terminal blocks back fully? Re-check the terminal connections as a simple clean-up and resolder wouldn’t lead to the problems you now are faced with.

OK Thanks Martin, will try that in the next day or so. At the time I tried to doublecheck the connections but as they are configured so that they can only go on one way, I thought that couldn’t be the problem.
Will let you know if I make progress

Well, I’ve now replaced the relay but still no joy.
Once the power is switched on, then the display lights up (as before) for about 5 seconds then it goes off and a fairly rapid clicking starts which slows to a halt after about 10-15 seconds. This happen no matter which cycle I choose in the 5 seconds before it switches off.
If I immediately hit the time delay button during the 5 second grace period then the display stays on and the countdown starts.
As mArtin suggested, I’ve checked the connectors which all seems to be located correctly. There is one spare space for an additional connector on the PCB on the LHS looking at the dishwasher but as there is no wire/connector, I assume that it is used in a different model.
Is there diagnostic I can run to see where the problem may be ?Any comments/assistance please ?
Cheers

Diagnostics rely on the PCB working as it’s the PCB that’s faulty the effect is a total negative. Aside from a faulty heater relay a capacitor may not be holding its charge, the transformer coil faulty or even a corrupted microprocessor? So my conclusion is that the PCB is (to coin a phrase) duff! 🙁

Hi Martin,
Many thanks for your help. If I can’t fault find any further then it looks like it’s probably not worth mending. With the control board being approx £100 and it is 9 yrs old I don’t think I’ll invest any further money into it.
