ParticipantHi All,
I have a 5 year old Bosch Exxcel WVD245S3GB/01 washing machine which needs it’s bearings exchange (diagnosed by rust on the rear of the drum below the spider, and a grating noise when rotating).
The questions are has anyone changed the bearings in this model? It looks as though the drum is a complete metal unit. Any advice would be well received.
Thanks!

the bearings are housed in a metel spider mounted on the back of the drum.
it is possible (but not easy) to remove the spider without removing the drum and withdraw it through the back panel
bosch supply the bearings as a complete spider part no 283726 but at £163 its a bit expensive. you can buy non gen bearing kits very likely from site shop.
if bearings have got to bad it will have damaged drum spider, so strip it and check first
you can see a breakdown at http://www.bosch-home.co.uk/store/spareparts/searchDave

Thank you Dave. I have a non gen bearing kit, with the x2 bearings and plastic seal. I will give it a go through the small back access panel.

you have got to take a lot more than the access panel
remove the tumble dryer section including the condensor which runs down right hand side
as said its not easy but it is doo able

Hi, Thank you for the advice. Do you know if there’s a guide on removing bearings through the back panel? It’s so noisy I need to getting fixed now! Thanks

Thanks Dave. It’s a sealed metal tub, which is annoying. Do you know if the bearings can still be changed on this? The outer panels of the machine are also one complete panel. Bosch seems to have made this as hard as possible to fix!
I’ve done it a few times on plastic drums that can be split and so know the work this entails! Never come across a metal outer drum though…
