This may be of interest to owners of similar machines.
We’ve had this since early 2007, it’s in use at least once a day, sometimes twice, (strange, as there’s only two of us in this house now).
This one.
It has worked faultlessly all this time until recently, when as you opened the door the child lock lever would drop down and you had to hold it in to get the door open. No big deal as many people must keep theirs activated all the time, but I found it irritating. Re-setting it is a bit of a fiddle, but opening and closing the door a few times later, it would activate it again.
When the Bosch engineer came to attempt to fix our new washing machine (they couldn’t, so Currys replaced it) I mentioned this problem to him. Without even looking at it, he told me that one of the lugs attaching the fascia to the door must have broken and pulling on the handle made the fascia spring out enough to cause the problem.
Later, getting down on my hands and knees I could see a break and a small hole in the underside of the fascia. I was able to effect a permanent and invisible repair by just (strong) gluing a small cut to size piece of hard plastic, bridging the break.
We’ve had no problems since.
As our experience can’t be uncommon, I thought it worth mentioning it, as this forum was of help to us with our washing machine problem. (The replacement is working faultlessly)
