ParticipantHi,
I have a BOSCH WAQ283S0GB that is coming up to 6 years old. A couple of days ago it stopped towards the end of the spin and flashed E18. We have checked everywhere – filter, impellor, cold water feed, drain pipes and found a few coins, cleared it out etc. I’ve also cleaned the dispenser tray and water jets etc in case that was the issue. It will run a 15 minute cycle but it won’t take the fabric conditioner. I’ve then tried it on a 90deg full cycle and it stopped with 1 minute left and gave E18 again – I could see there was still far too much water in the drum for only 1 minute left! I can’t even now get it to drain, or complete a rinse/spin – it stops again with 1 minute to go. I’ve tried doing a reset (hold start/reload, turn dial to 15′ express, keep hold of start/reload for 30+ seconds and the screen doesn’t even register that I’m trying anything?).
I’m not sure what to try next so any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated! Don’t really want to knee jerk into a new machine during lock down with less income coming in [IMG2=JSON]{“data-align”:”none”,”data-size”:”full”,”src”:”https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forums/core/core/images/smilies/evil6.gif”}[/IMG2]
Thanks, Jess

Moderatorif the pump is running and its not draining it has to be a blockage
i have had
coins in odd places like half way down an outlet hose
fat in the oultlet hoses
colour catchers caught in the sump of the machine not to mention socks and panties
etcall will slow the flow down enough so machine times out

ParticipantThanks for your speedy reply Dave! We really couldn’t see/feel anything in any of the pipes – we blew through them, felt down them, lit them up with torches etc. Unless there’s a hidden pipe somewhere we haven’t checked? We’ve been wondering if the pump isn’t working, how would be know?

Moderatoris there any water draining at all ?
remove filter.select pump on machine and start, watch pump impellor to see if it energisesyou can hear the pump running on the pump only programme. if its not running you get a low hum . but you can get a clatter if its trying to start but cant
as above you can have a coin half way down an outlet hose. it will stop water but not air so you cant find it by blowing
if the hoses have something cloth in them. you will not feel it through the hose it has to be removed to check

ParticipantWhat to look for when you get / if anyone else get`s this problem: when you remove the filter get a small thin but longish screwdiver and place the end of the driver in the middle on the pump`s impellor to woggle the center, any side play left to right by about half a mm+ = the pump has had it, basically the pump`s bearing is nuked. Sometimes they can pump out with no problem sometimes they refuse. A very commonly seen Bosch pump fault that one.
