KeymasterBosch fridge freezer, only 2.7 years old. The freezer’s working fine but suddenly not the fridge. I say suddenly but we have wondered why it’s been a bit noiser than usual recently and why there’s been water at the bottom of the fridge. Our old fridge which lasted 17 years used to have a hole inside at the bottom which was easy to unblock. There doesn’t seem to be any such hole in this one, though there is an outlet pipe at the back with a tray beneath it that’s bone dry. It’s difficult to access but, with wire, I’ve checked that the lower 4 or 5 inches at least are clear. Any ideas? Are the 2 things (fridge not working, water on the floor) related? I’d be very grateful of advice.

Yes, they are related Paul.
As this is a frost free unit, the cold air is blown up in to the fridge by a fan.
What has happened is there is an excessive ice build up in the freezer behind the rear panel where all the cooling takes place blocking the air flow and some of the excess ice will be melting and running out from underneath.
The first thing to do is empty it then switch the whole thing off for 24 hours with the doors open and allow all the ice to melt. Periodically keep an eye on the tray at the rear you mention and don’t allow it to overflow.
Once all the ice has gone, switch back on and it will be OK, hopefullly cured, if it occurs again there may well be a problem with the defrost section of the unit and will need an engineer to call and rectify, this may take weeks or months to occur though.
See how you get on and let us know 😀
Dave.
