The run of unusual faults continues, need a holiday!!

Bosch Washing machine 3 1/2 years old.

Customer complaint: Flashing door lock symbol and cant open door.

Upon visit, managed to open door using the latch cord revealed behind filter cut away bottom RHS.

First tested a spin cycle. The door locks, timer says 13 mins. It instantly moves to 5 mins and hangs there, runs empty pump, no drum action. After about 4 or 5 minutes, the timer reverts back to 13 mins and the machine stops with a flashing door lock symbol which will not release – again had to open door using latch chord. Power off at the wall doenst help. Stays with flashing door lock symbol when plugged in again.

Next tested Quickwash cycle. Door locks, machine sporadically fills, display timer skips like the spin cycle, after a few minutes, timer reverts back to default time at start of cycle and door lock led flashes. Again, door remains closed.

No Error codes have ever been shown.

At one point with door open, the selection knob went cranky, displaying the cotton prog default values regardless of what position the control knob was positioned in – Normally, when turned the display updates relevant to what prog is selected.

Rinse cycle did the same. Sporadically filled, reverted display time back to default and hung with door locked and flashing door lock symbol.

Machine was in a narrow room (like a hallway) where you couldn’t swing a cat and it had a big heavy condensing dryer on top. Was unable to access machine to test anything as no one was available to help me lift the dryer down. Sigh!. Its only 3 1/2 years old though and isnt subject to heavy use, plus no error codes. Thinking module (as usual!) 🙁

    Any tips/ideas, please.

Thanks Dave, will check when I return and have help to access the machine.

But, I’ve never had a Bosch machine do this due to heater fault. Certainly not affecting a cold rinse or spin cycle.

agreed but its a quick painless test so worth trying. Does sound like a board fault but which one is another problem

is it display or inverter. your getting no motor action so it may be worth opening inverter. Have had condensation on panels at the bottom before, oh and slugs as well on a few occasions

Farm house, so mice did cross my mind, having once found a charred one before elsewhere.

Is it just me, or is the quality of things nowadays absolutely terrible? Never been to so many Bosch/Neff machines with major faults within the first 3-5 years…

It will be the power module if the door lock light flashes or issue with door lock I’ve dine loads of them and the quality of the products have gone down hill fast

    Thanks.

I have changed a module before which wasn’t programmed. It came with a data/instruction sheet explaining how to program it. From memory (this was a few years back) it involved entering either a one or a zero for each position on the selection dial.

Actually wasn’t too bad to do.

Wonder if the unprogrammed version of these have a similar procedure?

No the un programme modules now have to be programmed via boschs equipment, tip for you on changing it lay the machine the floor with the dispenser side down , and split the white plastic halfs and dont disconnect all the wires from black holders or cut and cable ties should be up and running alot quicker for you then
