ParticipantBosch silver edition
SMS40A08GB/25Started tripping fuse.
Sorted with another socket.
Then E09
PreRinse no issues so indicating element.
While waiting for time to get at it, issues put it on a couple times thinking it was OK… Obviously no heat and error at end or during cycle.
Then E15 – guessing because cold wash and detergent not dissolving as wet vac on drain hose cleared the E15 fault? So, back to the E09… Side panel off and noticed bottom of insulation panel (to left of control unit) soaking wet.
Evidence of moisture in rim above, where gasket type strip seal attached and cellophane deflector sheet sticks to side.Funky liquid in base of bottom tray.
Wet vac it all out and test resistance on heater terminals = O.L
Took heat pump out and tested again = OL
Took it apart and saw moisture and corrosion on element.
So, new heat pump but…
Is it likely the moisture found has been produced “during” the fault period or is what caused heater to fail in the first place?
Don’t want to lay out £130 odd and have same thing happen again!
Did read another thread about rhs panel warping and suspect this may be my issue!
Cheers for pointers.

Moderatorlook for signs of leaks where the stainless wrapper meets the plastic base. get a lot of leaks from the joint. Bosch started using a plastic base to keep costs down and its causes problems over the years as the plastic loses tension and it starts to leak

Thanks Dave,
That’s exactly my suspicion!
There’s a plastic tray that clips to the stainless sides and that’s the joint that I have my doubts about! Can a fix be done with CT1?
Hate this disposable world because, as a boiler man I like fixing things and am good at it, but BER makes it a waste of time and money!

Moderatorwell if its scrap now you have nothing to lose by trying
as long as the glue will stand the heat and all is clean and dry ( unless ct1 will go on damp surfaces) should be ok

CT1 cures under water.
How can affect a test?
Where’s the point/seam to apply the sealant? Do you know?
Heat pump is currently out of the machine so probably need to bung the outlets and fill with water!Cheers

Moderatorjust seal all the way round
look for marks where it may have leaked
you wont be able ro seal properly with mortor out
it never fills to the seam it water thats pushed through with the motor pressure
