ParticipantHi,
Anyone know the answer to this one before I waste my time testing
everything else?
My parents have a 10 year old Bosch Fridge Freezer (Model KGU 3200)
which has been otherwise reliable.
The problem now is that the fridge compartment is freezing up. The temp
is set to 6 degrees but the display goes to 1 degree and the contents
are all freezing over.
All the exit holes for draining water etc appear to be clear btw.
Any ideas? šNovember 22, 2005 at 12:38 pm #155166eastlmark

No easy answer to that one, it has an electronic control and sensors and either could be at fault, not easy to diagnose which.

Almost certainly a sticking diverter valve.
An expensive repair Iām afraid. š
You my be able to free the valve by activating it via the service program.

Thanks for the replies.
If it’s going to be an expensive repair I don’t think it’s worth getting repaired by an engineer, given it’s age.
I’ll have a go at unsticking the valve as you say but how do I activate the service program, BSH-MAN? š

Oh..and another thing, BSH-MAN, I’m no expert so I don’t really know but would the freezer compartment still work fine if the valve were stuck?
I only ask because I’d presume the divertor to then work the fridge only and not the freezer. Unless of course it’s stuck partially.

Yep! š
Appliance must be switched off.
Press and hold memory(M) and FREEZER colder(down arrow) buttons down, switch on appliance.āP 00ā will appear in the display.
Use the FRIDGE warmer (up) to change to āP 01ā (diverter valve)
Pressing the FRIDGE ON/OFF button operates the valve. Repeatedly press this button about 20 times. You should hear the valve clicking.
Switch appliance off and then back on.
The temp will (hopefully) return to that which is set, within about an hour.

Okay, my parents switched the whole system off anyway and defrosted it. Upon re-start I did as you said and all seems fine to date š
When I was switching on and off in the service program I could hear two clicks each time but on occasion there was just one click. I’m presuming that was the valve sticking.
Anyway, thus far all seems to be fine.Cheers! š
