The warning light has come on – on this fridge/freezer (Bosch KGU31125GB/01) (I presume for the freezer part). The freezer is cold but not as cold as normal. It is set to -18C and the fridge to +4C. I dusted down the grill on the back and checked the door seals (seem ok). Is there anything else I can check – I have a multimeter.

    Thank you

well thats way too high to be safe. At those temps its a one star freezer which is good for a week max storage

check the fan is running in the freezer

it could be iced up at the back so would need a total defrost which is plug out and doors open for 2 days

    Thanks for your reply.
Bit stuck about defrosting for 2 days as haven’t got access to another freezer.
I can’t see a fan in the freezer – just one in the fridge which does come on sometimes.

    freezer fan is item 0310

the evaporater item 0303 can get full of ice, somtimes jamming the fan which means cold air cant circulate

I turned it on with the fan exposed and didn’t seem to be turning. I unplugged and took the connector fans off and tested it seems to be open circuit. A new fan from Bosch is £198!

fan only runs with the door closed otherwise it would blow cold air out

you may not get a reading with a meter as some have electronic boards inside

Thanks for your help on this.
I tested the fan by putting a magnet up to the switch at the front and it works.
I noticed there is a lot of ice under the coils so I defrosted it as suggested.
I have powered up again to see it gets down to -18C.

Measured the temperature inside the freezer its now -18C (and the warning light is off) – so the defrost worked. Thanks.
