ParticipantHi, I’m new to your site, came across it whilst trying to find out why my Bosch fridge freezer Model KGV3120 ( approx 5 years old ) is giving me probs. Freezer works fine but Fridge is not cooling properly, only does so when i switch it off and then back on again. I suspect some sort of thermostat, but Hey what do I know ? thats why i’m here. Any ideas anyone ?? Thanks 😕

Read the following article, you will find it very usefull;
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ge&pid=108
It could be ice built up in the freezer so you may have to switch it off for few hours and let the ice in the freezer compart(you may not see the ice).
Let us know what happens

ParticipantThank you very much for your reply, i have defrosted the fridge/freezer this evening and will check the fridge temperature in the morning. I will let you know how i’ve got on. Also thanks for the link which makes interesting reading but i’m not sure mine is a ” frost free ” model, it looks like conventional fridge/freezer with cooling elements in the freezer and the usual compressor and cooling pipework on the back, thanks, i appreciate your help .

Yours is definitely not a frost free model in which case defrosting the freezer will not cure the fault.
Does the compressor run all the time? If it does then it’s serious (coolant leak, weak/worn compressor)
If the compressor switches on and off periodically it may be the thermostat which is altogether much easier (and cheaper) to rectify.February 11, 2007 at 10:26 am #203732rosie-lee
ParticipantHi, dissapointing new this morning after last nights defrost, freezer and fridge cooled ok initially and then this morning freezer OK but fridge not cooling again. so i switched it off and then on again and compressor starts ok but it seems as though a thermostat on the fridge is not working ! Can you tell me where this is and where to get a replacement. Many thanks.

No thermostat as such on this one, Rosie. Electronic control board, therefore thermistor sensors as well.
Time for some pro help – tricky to diagnose properly like this.

please, try not to be so hasty
bosch are probably one of the best fridge freezers on the market.
5yrs seems to be average lifespan to be fair, although bosch tend to last longer
dont be dissapointed with bosch and buy hotpoint/indesit stuff!!!!
if you do, then youll know wot true disapointment is
sounds like a thermistor problem to be fair, well, its either that or the pcb as penguin advised
as always, its dificult to advise exactly over the forum, butin this case, it might well not be an over expensive repair, and proffssional advice would be called forhope this helps

ParticipantThanks 4 ur advice helo_75, I’ll not give up just yet, i’ll try a local refridgeration engineer for an estimate and not give up on Bosch yet, maybe i’m expecting it to last forever but 5 years only seems like 2 or 3 !!! 🙂

ParticipantI have’nt given in yet, had the thing to pieces this evening, after listening to your advice suspect it may be the pcb as i tested the resistance of the thermistors and results were approx 11K for fridge at approx 15 C and approx 17K for freezer at -1C or thereabouts ( god knows where they are located though ? ), I really dont know alot more than this though so by proccess of elimination i suspect the pcb. Somebody please tell me if that sounds about right and if so where can a buy a pcb from ? Any ideas on how much they are ? Thanks again.

Coincidentally, I have just experienced the same problem with the same model !
HOw much did the repair cost ?February 19, 2007 at 9:09 pm #203740rosie-lee
ParticipantRe: Bosch Fridge/Freezer, Fridge 2 warm
The repair was free as i fixed it myself but wouldn’t recommend it unless you are competent with circuit boards / electrics. All the info was found on this site so if you search for Bosch info you will find the cure. Good luck. 😉
