ParticipantHello. My KGN39A60GB/10 fridge freezer is not cooling the fridge, but over-cooling the freezer. I think I have traced the fault to the temperature regulator. This seems to be a flap that moves depending on required temp. This flap is spring loaded and seems to be set to closed all the time. I can’t see how the flap is even controlled and I wonder if a part has broken off? I can move the flap with my fingers, but it spring loads back to closed. This part is £125 to replace which seems a lot. Do others think that as I can move it there is a part missing? Any other advice. Bosch call out fee is £99 + parts so £225 would be a good way towards a brand new fridge freezer.

the flap has got to have some sort of electrical actuator. I have not got a lot of experience with fridges so other members may know if this is a known fault but in my opinion it could be a few things
1 the flap is faulty
2 the thermostat (NTC) controlling the fridge is fauly
3 the main board is faultyyou also say the freezer is over cooling , how did you make that determination ?

Freezer overcooling – I have a thermometer! Freezer goes down to -30 I am guessing as flap is closed.

flap only affects fridge as far as I know. too get that low it sounds like the compressor does not stop and that will use lots more electric
you have not selected fast freeze by mistake have you ?Dave

No Dave, fast freeze not on. My theory is that as the fan runs and the flap is closed, the cold air is just returned to the freezer cooling it further. As a temporary fix (bodge) I have held the flap open to cool the fridge. This is working quite well but obvs not a long term solution!!

no if flap is closed then air just stops going that way
don’t have a lot of fridge experience but I would still like to know why the freezer is so cold. I would expect the freezer to stop about -20 or so and if the fridge needs cooling the cold air from the freezer is let through and as the freezer temp rises the compressor kick in to maintain the temperatures
there is normally a temp sensor in the fridge (but not always Beko don’t on some models) and in a lot of cases this sensor is foamed in to the original build which makes it difficult to change
there are members on here with more bosch experience who may be able to help more
